High-voltage battery
(Elektrotechnisch unterwiesene Person Hochvolt-Batterie – EuP BAT)
Duration:
4 hours / 5 units
Format:
in-person, Online
Participants:
Max. 12
Completion:
Written examination / certificate
Lithium-ion batteries and high-voltage storage systems are now integral to numerous industrial applications and vehicles, and present a corresponding hazard potential. This training course qualifies participants as Instructed Person in Electrical Safety in the field of high-voltage batteries in accordance with the applicable regulations of the German occupational safety system.
The rights and obligations of employees in the context of operational electrical safety and the organisational principles of health and safety are taught. A particular focus is on defining the limits of permissible activities: What can an Instructed Person in Electrical Safety carry out independently, and what is exclusively reserved for certified electricians?
In the technical part, participants acquire a practical basic understanding of the structure, function, hazards and necessary protective measures when handling HV components and lithium-ion batteries. The aim is to increase safety in the operational environment and to demonstrably fulfill the legal requirements.
- Basic structure of high-voltage energy storage systems
- Hazard potential of lithium-ion cells, modules and batteries
- Response to Accidents, Damage, and Exceptional Situations
This training course is aimed at individuals who handle touch-proof energy storage devices or modules/cells with a voltage of less than 60 V DC, e.g. employees in logistics and production.
You will learn:
- recognize the dangers posed by high-voltage energy storage systems
- which activities you are permitted to carry out as an Instructed Person in Electrical Safety
to assess when they must stop an activity and seek support from a technically Responsible Certified Electrician
None required.

FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
For which activities does the Instructed Person in Electrical Safety - Focus On High-Voltage Batteries training qualify?
This training course qualifies personnel to perform basic tasks on touch-proof energy storage systems up to 60 V DC, e.g. in logistics, assembly or production. Work on live components is not permitted.
Who needs this qualification for high-voltage batteries?
The training course is aimed at people who work with HV energy storage devices but are not themselves certified electricians – particularly in companies involved in series production, dismantling or battery logistics.
What is the difference between this training for HV batteries and the classic training?
The course focuses specifically on high-voltage energy storage systems such as lithium-ion batteries. In addition to general hazards, battery-specific issues such as thermal runaway, cell damage and deep discharge are also dealt with here.
Can operational processes or battery systems be integrated into the training?
Yes, real-life use cases or company-specific battery modules can be integrated into the training course on request. Further information can be found on the training development page.
