Performing switching operations on medium-voltage systems involves considerable electrical hazards and may only be carried out by appropriately qualified persons. This basic training course on switching authorization teaches the necessary theoretical principles for safe and standard-compliant switching on systems above 1 kV – in accordance with the requirements of DIN EN 50110-1, DGUV Regulation 3, the Industrial Safety Regulation (BetrSichV), and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG).
The focus is on the organizational and technical requirements that must be strictly observed when planning and carrying out switching operations. Participants learn about the relevant regulations and acquire in-depth knowledge of protective measures, the design and operation of medium-voltage systems, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safety-related equipment such as earthing and short-circuiting devices.
The basic training course has a modular structure and forms the basis for subsequent practical instruction in the respective network or plant area. It therefore serves as a prerequisite for the company-specific granting of switching authorization and lays the foundation for safe and responsible work on medium-voltage systems.

- recognize electrical hazards and apply suitable protective measures
- understand the structure and operation of high-voltage systems
- select and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly
- understand the organizational sequence of a switching operation and conduct a switching conversation
- handle earthing and short-circuiting devices correctly
- prepare specifically for practical instruction in the operational environment
